Delightful Lace Cookies Inspired by Grandma

Grandma’s Classic Lace Cookies made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup finely chopped nuts such as pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda, then gradually add it to the butter mixture.
  • Fold in the chopped nuts evenly throughout the dough.
  • Drop rounded teaspoons of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them about 3 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
